The Book: Posh Push: Modern Girls Reveal Secrets for a More Natural Birth, written by Sara Smildzins and Patricia Grube is the latest- must read for expectant mommies (and daddies, too). This book answers all of the most important labor and delivery questions spanning from preparedness to delivering a baby sans drugs.
Overall, Posh Push speaks openly and honestly about natural birth alleviating anxiety and helping expectant moms feel more confident and able to make an educated decision about their birth plan. Smildzins and Grube even highlight and share stories of real moms who have chosen natural birth.
And possibly the greatest part, we think, is that there’s even a chapter dedicated entirely to dads – it’s the Daddy Gorilla chapter!
So whether you’re planning a natural birth or not, Posh Push is a great book for every expectant mom, as it’s sure to spark a few new ideas, while explaining common misconceptions and overlooked points.
The Authors: Posh Push was written by Sara Smildzins and Patricia Grube, two unique California women with an exceptional combined knowledge of all things birth. Smildzins in a Southern California native who attended undergrad at USC and obtained an MBA from UCLA; she worked as brand manager for Mattel before becoming a mommy of two. According to the website bio, “Sara speaks on this topic and teaches birth and parenting courses in the South Bay and greater Los Angeles areas. She also does consulting for several entrepreneurial companies and well known brands that specialize in baby and children’s products.”
Grube brings with her a plethora of other experiences; “is a Certified Childbirth Educator and Birth Doula through CAPPA organization and a Certified Birth Doula with DONA,” explains the website. Grube runs a doula practice in Los Angeles and teaches pre-natal and mommy-and-baby yoga classes.
