Celebrity moms and dads were out in full force at the Pre-Emmy Gifting Suite this year, and the DaddyScrubs’ team had a blast meeting the many prideful celebrity parents. We were uber-excited to meet well-known starlet Ana Ortiz.
A native of Manhattan, Ortiz is an actress and singer. She is well known for her role as Hilda Suarez, Ugly Betty’s older sister in ABC’s hit comedy-drama, Ugly Betty. In 2007, she won an ALMA Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her stellar acting within that role.
Many don’t know that Ortiz dreamed of becoming a ballerina as a child; she studied ballet for eight years before moving on to other arts such as singing. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City and later graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She hit the stage with the production of Dangerous Liaisons before later acting in Hair, Dog Lady and the Cuban Swimmer, Dali Make Me Hot and We’d All be Kings.
On television, Ortiz’s career includes appearances in NYPD Blue, Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, Commander in Chief, Boston Legal, ER, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Over There, Kristin, Everybody Loves Raymondand Army Wives.
In 2007, Ortiz married Noah Lebenzon in Puerto Rico. They had their first child, a daughter, Paloma on June 27, 2009. The happy couple had a second child, Rafael on September 24, 2011.
