The Oak Ridge Boys Sing About Daddyhood
A lovely old song by the Oak Ridge Boys, “Thank God for Kids” is a popular song that reminds us all of the joys children bring.
The Song: “Thank God for Kids” was written by Eddy Raven and recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys in 1982. The hit song made it’s way to the Hot Country Singles charts where it remained for sixteen weeks. It wasn’t until 2004 that Kenny Chesney covered the classic, bringing it to life again on his Christmas album, All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan.
The Artist: In the 1940s, the group got it’s start as the Oak Ridge Quartet singing southern gospel. They continued singing predominately gospel music until the 60s when they changed their name to The Oak Ridge Boys and started singing country. Original members since the 70s, the band consists of Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden and Richard Sterban.
“Thank God for Kids” is a great song and a wonderful reminder of the incredible innocence children stand for.
