Community Support for Miscarriages
According to My Baby Angel Foundation, “one in four women suffers a miscarriage, pregnancy or infant loss.” Luckily, there are organizations and foundations dedicated to supporting mothers who experience this type of loss as well as friends, family members and dads, too.
My Baby Angel Foundation was created when Marika Baris and Frederic Wiedemann suffered the loss of two grandchildren. They say, “Our granddaughter was born on June 18, 2008 at 22 weeks gestational age. She lived 20 minutes and was too young to survive. Our grandson, born on March 14, 2009 was stillborn at 24 weeks. The loss was devastating to us and our family.”
In an effort to memorialize their grandchildren and support their own child, Marika and Frederic came up with the idea of creating a legacy of love for their family’s baby angels – and the program began to spread shortly after.
My Baby Angel Foundation has resources available for everyone – from blogs for dads suffering loss to tips for supporting a friend. This amazing foundation’s main goals are to:
- SUPPORT those who have currently suffered this “unique” loss(es) and those who have ever suffered a miscarriage, pregnancy or infant loss
- Help family members, friends, co-workers and community VOICE their support
- Create a REMEMBRANCE through our Never Forgotten Legacy of Love program
- Bring AWARENESS to our society that will help transform this disenfranchised grief
