New daddy Sam W. recently welcomed a beautiful baby into the world! And for the arrival of his child, Sam proudly wore a pair of Navy Blue Edgy DaddyScrubs.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Sam, and asking with him about being a brand new daddy! Here’s what he had to say:
Q: What was your first thought upon holding your brand new bundle of joy?
A: My first thought was that of unspeakable joy, and at first I couldn’t see at all because the most unexpected tears of joy were streaming down my face! I also, until that moment, didn’t know I was having a boy, which was such a great surprise as well (though I would have been just as joyful and surprised if we had a girl). Once I got to hold him after they cleaned and measured him I couldn’t do anything but smile, and I think I was probably laughing a little too.
Q: What advice do you have for other new and expectant parents?
A: The first bit of advice is for dads: the most important thing is to be as patient as you can with your wife when you’re near going to the hospital, and doubly so when you’re AT the hospital. When you feel like your patience is running thin, take a breath and remember YOU’RE not the one in pain. Support, support, support. Ice chips and ginger ale.
For the mommies: feel free to ask us daddies for anything, you deserve it and so much more! McDonald’s at 2am the night they send you home because you’re not dilated enough? Sure! Anything for you sweetie!
Something for both parents: if you have a boy remember to “aim” him when putting a new diaper on him, otherwise he is very prone to peeing THROUGH a diaper right onto you!
Q: How did you feel wearing your DaddyScrubs at the hospital?
A: I started out almost feeling awkward, but really I felt proud getting to be noticed as a daddy no matter where I went! I never got so many “Congrats!” from so many strangers before!
Q: What was the reaction you received from people at the hospital when you wore your DaddyScrubs?
A: All the staff LOVED the scrubs!! Heads turned everywhere, especially when I went downstairs to get something to eat at the cafeteria!
